Unified Security Posture via IBM‑Tanium

Key Points

  • Tim Brander introduces the IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center (SCC), highlighting its unified “single pane of glass” for continuous compliance monitoring, preventive configuration enforcement, and hybrid multi‑cloud support.
  • He explains Tanium’s platform as a real‑time endpoint data hub trusted by many Fortune 100 companies, providing a high‑fidelity source of truth across hybrid, cloud, containerized, on‑prem, and remote assets.
  • The integration of IBM Cloud with Tanium enables customers to view both cloud and endpoint compliance results in a single dashboard, improving visibility, reducing breach risk, and streamlining security operations.
  • A brief demo walkthrough shows how to access SCC via the IBM Cloud console, navigate to the Integrations section, and begin configuring the Tanium connector to consolidate compliance data.

0:00hello everyone my name is tim brander 0:02with ibm cloud today i'd like to show 0:04you how to take advantage of obtainium 0:05complies integration into ibm cloud 0:08security compliance center or sec for 0:10short 0:11what we're going to do is solve the 0:12problem of providing more complete 0:14security and compliance posture in one 0:16view using multiple tools but first a 0:18little about scc 0:21it provides you a unified single pane of 0:22glass experience for all of your secured 0:24and compliance postures it provides you 0:26continuous compliance monitoring against 0:29pre-defined profiles based on security 0:31best practices and industry compliance 0:33standards 0:34in addition it provides preventative 0:36enforcement of secure configuration of 0:38your ibm cloud services to proactively 0:41prevent misconfigurations of cloud 0:43resources 0:44and then to top it all off we provide 0:46hybrid multi-cloud support so you can 0:48scan multiple clouds as well as on-prem 0:50resources for security best practices 0:53now what is tadium 0:55titanium platform unifies security and 0:57it operation teams with a single view of 0:59critical endpoint data in real time 1:01all through a single platform and agent 1:04trust by half of the fortune 100 and 1:06largest government networks titanium 1:07provides a comprehensive and high 1:09fidelity source of truth so that 1:11organizations see every endpoint whether 1:13that be hybrid cloud containerized 1:16on-prem remote and can make informed 1:18decisions in real time 1:20ibm cloud and tanium working together 1:22was a natural partnership to allow for 1:24the best of both worlds to bring the 1:25power of our joint solutions together 1:28with this integration customers can 1:29deepen their capabilities for reducing 1:31the possibility of a breach or a 1:32security event 1:34now ibm cloud is becoming the most 1:36secure cloud provider making security 1:39and compliance easier and more secure by 1:41default 1:42tadium does a great job of discovering 1:43unknown assets in a large scale 1:45enterprise like finding an unmanaged 1:47laptop with malware or 1:49improving your patch success rate within 1:51minutes 1:53so how does integration actually work 1:55here's a diagram of what you're about to 1:57see in this video now i'm going to be 1:58playing the role of the compliance 2:00engineer that knows ibm cloud titanium 2:02and the problem we're trying to solve is 2:03seeing compliance results from ibm cloud 2:06and tanium in one dashboard 2:10okay so the first thing that i'm going 2:11to go do is uh go to cloud.ibm.com just 2:14log into my ibm cloud account 2:16now there's several ways that you can 2:17access ibm cloud security and compliance 2:19center the first way is going to be 2:21through our hamburger menu and what 2:23you're going to do is just scroll down 2:25to security and compliance it's right 2:28next to satellite and vmware 2:31the second way is through a widget 2:32that's on a pre-built dashboard for a 2:35security focal and the other way is to 2:37go up to the manage and security 2:39compliance menu item 2:41okay so now i'm just going to go click 2:42on security compliance and that brings 2:44me into the security and compliance 2:46center 2:47now the first thing i'm going to go do 2:48is click on integrations because we want 2:50to set up titanium so i'm going to go 2:52down to the titanium tile click on 2:54connect 2:55and i'm going to fill out the connection 2:57name this could be any name 2:59the registration url is just the url 3:02that you're going to be going to for 3:04your tanium instance 3:05then i'm going to click on next 3:07there's two 3:09result formats oscal or native for this 3:11instance 3:12titanium is in native so i'm going to 3:14click on native and click on connect 3:16now the result is a service id and api 3:19key that allows me to have a secure 3:21connection between tanium and security 3:23compliance center 3:24i'm going to download that and also copy 3:26it to clipboard but i'm going to be 3:27saving that to put into titanium later 3:32okay 3:33so now that i've got that done i'm going 3:35to go and click on configure 3:37and go to scopes because i need to put a 3:40place where i want all the information 3:42to go this is in our concept of scopes 3:45scopes is basically just the resources 3:47of where i want things to go 3:50i'm first going to create a scope i'm 3:52going to give it a name 3:55and click on next 3:57go to the environment scroll down to 3:58on-prem 4:02and then in the next menu item i'm going 4:04to go ahead and click on 4:06the connect third-party resources and 4:08then a new menu pops up that shows 4:11tanium there's a couple connections that 4:13i have but i'm going to just connect to 4:15the one that i just built 4:17and then click on next 4:20now in this next one we usually have a 4:22collector that is installed but in this 4:25instance tanium is the collector so we 4:27don't have to do this part so all i have 4:29to do now is just click on next 4:32and now i just review all the details 4:34that i just put in and click on create 4:36what that does is create the scope and 4:38it gives me a url that i want to point 4:41tanium at and to use that api key and 4:43service id in order to securely 4:45communicate from tanium into ibm cloud 4:48security and compliance center 4:50i'm going to copy the url 4:52and bring that over in titanium 4:55along with my api key and then finished 4:57the integration part in tanium 5:02okay that's it 5:03in this video you were able to see 5:04tanium complies integration into ibm 5:06cloud security and compliance center 5:08thanks for watching if you have any 5:10questions please add a comment below if 5:12you
