0:00artificial general intelligence or AGI 0:03describes a type of artificial 0:05intelligence that matches or surpasses 0:08human capabilities across most or even 0:10all cognitive tasks but 0:14AGI well it doesn't it doesn't actually 0:16exist it's a theoretical AI system it's 0:19it's science fiction but many AI labs 0:22are bullish on AI indicating is a matter 0:25of when not if so in this video Let's 0:28consider a world where AGI is here and 0:32ask ourselves how would that change 0:34things so we're going to explore eight 0:37use cases where AGI is applied and while 0:41we're at it we'll also look at specific 0:43areas where today's AI needs to improve 0:46to be able to achieve these capabilities 0:49so let's get started with number one and 0:52that is how AGI will affect customer 0:58service now an AGI EMP powered customer 1:01service system would access vast 1:03customer data and combine it with 1:06realtime analytics for personalized 1:08service what sort of vast customer data 1:11are we talking about well things like 1:13past experiences or buying habits and 1:15your client needs AGI might anticipate 1:19problems tailor responses and suggest 1:21Solutions and even predict follow-up 1:22questions AGI can offer a perception 1:25system that anticipates potential issues 1:28uses tone analysis to to better 1:30understand the customer's mood and 1:32possesses a keen memory that can recall 1:34the most specific minutia for that 1:38client also its emotional intelligence 1:41would allow it to adapt communication to 1:43be empathetic and supportive which I 1:45think we can all agree is a far cry from 1:48today's automated 1:50systems now second we need to think 1:53about how this would affect coding 1:57intelligence now AGI would grasp the 2:00logic and purpose of existing code bases 2:03suggesting improvements and generating 2:05new code based on human specifications 2:07so consider building a new e-commerce 2:10feature well the programmer tells the 2:12AGI I need to function I need a function 2:15that will calculate shipping costs and 2:17it needs to be based on location and 2:19weight and Method now today's Frontier 2:22AI models could already take a pretty 2:24good stab or a request like that but an 2:27AGI system would have a deep 2:30understanding of architecture 2:31dependencies and change history leading 2:33to better tailored code ready for the 2:35programmer to review optimize and 2:37integrate all right next up current 2:41self-driving cars and autonomous systems 2:43rely heavily on pre-programmed maps and 2:46sensors but that is beginning to change 2:48so how will AGI affect autonomous 2:53vehicles and autonomous 2:57Transportation well AGI wouldn't just 2:59perceive its surroundings it would 3:01understand them it might analyze 3:03realtime data from cameras liar and 3:06other sensors to identify objects assess 3:09risks and anticipate environmental 3:10changes like sudden weather events or 3:13unexpected obstacles and to do so in 3:16ways that are similar to the way that we 3:18do them so to recognize when another 3:21driver is waving us through at a 3:22four-way stop or to better understand 3:24the intentions of other Road users AGI 3:27might also assist in navigation choosing 3:29the most effective and safest route in 3:32real time now number four that one is 3:36all about healthc care and how AGI could 3:40affect that now the vast amount of 3:43medical data generated today remains 3:45largely untapped AGI might analyze 3:48medical images patient records and 3:50genetic data to identify subtle patterns 3:53that might Escape human attention AGI 3:56might also analyze a patient's genetic 3:58makeup and medical history to tailor 4:00treatment plans and it's that 4:02personalized approach that might lead to 4:04more effective therapies with fewer side 4:06effects now before I get to the other 4:09four use cases here let's pause for a 4:12moment to consider the ways that today's 4:15current AI systems need to improve in 4:18order to reach AGI and the first thing 4:22we're going to need or certainly one of 4:24the things we're going to need is better 4:27visual perception now computer vision 4:30has overcome some significant hurdles in 4:33facial recognition and object detection 4:36but it still Falls far short of human 4:38capabilities in context and object 4:41identification multimodal AI models 4:43they're making a lot of progress here 4:45but there's still a ways to go and 4:47similarly we'll need improvements in 4:49audio as well so audio perception also 4:53need to improve AI systems are rapidly 4:56improving in speech recognition but they 4:58still struggle with things like Regional 5:00accents or sarcasm or identifying 5:03emotional 5:05tones today's AI systems excel at 5:08something already which is problem 5:10solving but they only do that to a 5:14certain 5:17extent it's primarily for well-defined 5:20problems but an AG would need to solve 5:23problems the way a human would with 5:25reasoning and with critical thinking the 5:27AGI would need to handle uncertainty and 5:30make decisions with incomplete 5:32information and look human intelligence 5:34is deeply intertwined with our emotional 5:37and our social abilities so an AGI would 5:41need those 5:42two it's really what makes us us so an 5:46AI would need to recognize and 5:49understand emotions including 5:50interpreting facial expressions body 5:52language and tone of voice but when we 5:55get all that what will it mean for our 5:58remaining use cases well look I work in 6:03education so this one is quite close to 6:07my heart imagine an AGI tutor who 6:11doesn't present information but 6:13personalizes The Learning Journey AGI 6:16might analyze the students performance 6:18learning style and knowledge gaps to 6:20create a customized learning path it 6:22wouldn't treat all students the same AGI 6:25might adjust the pace and the difficulty 6:27of the material in real time 6:30based on the student's understanding so 6:32struggling with a concept AGI provides 6:34other explanations and examples or if 6:36you're mastering a topic it can 6:38introduce more challenging material all 6:40of which might not be great for my 6:42future job security but can AGI right 6:46backwards on a lightboard can it all 6:49right next up next one that is 6:55manufacturing are you watching AGI look 6:57at that okay now AGI might revolutionize 7:01manufacturing by optimizing every step 7:04of the process by analyzing vast amounts 7:07of data from sensors on the production 7:09line it might recommend adjustments to 7:11machine settings and optimize production 7:13schedules in real time for maximum 7:15efficiency analyzing historical data and 7:18Center readings might help AGI predict 7:20equipment failures before they happen a 7:22slight vibration in a critical machine 7:24would be immediately recognized it would 7:26be analyzed and it would be addressed 7:30all right two more let's consider how 7:34this could affect financial services and 7:38the question we all want to know is 7:39could AGI be the ultimate stock picker 7:43well it could analyze vast data sets 7:45encompassing financial news social media 7:48sentiment and even satellite imagery to 7:50identify complex market trends and 7:52potential disruptions that might go 7:54unnoticed by human analysts AGI might 7:57develop its own complex Trading 7:59algorithms that factor in this data to 8:01create more accurate Financial models 8:04and finally there is R and D or research 8:08and development which is possibly the 8:12most impactful use case of all using all 8:16that it has learned AGI might be able to 8:19formulate new hypotheses and design 8:21experiments at an unprecedented scale 8:24accelerating scientific breakthroughs 8:26across all sorts of fields this would 8:28allow scientists to test hypotheses more 8:30efficiently and explore previously
