artificial general intelligence or AGI
describes a type of artificial
intelligence that matches or surpasses
human capabilities across most or even
all cognitive tasks but
AGI well it doesn't it doesn't actually
exist it's a theoretical AI system it's
it's science fiction but many AI labs
are bullish on AI indicating is a matter
of when not if so in this video Let's
consider a world where AGI is here and
ask ourselves how would that change
things so we're going to explore eight
use cases where AGI is applied and while
we're at it we'll also look at specific
areas where today's AI needs to improve
to be able to achieve these capabilities
so let's get started with number one and
that is how AGI will affect customer
service now an AGI EMP powered customer
service system would access vast
customer data and combine it with
realtime analytics for personalized
service what sort of vast customer data
are we talking about well things like
past experiences or buying habits and
your client needs AGI might anticipate
problems tailor responses and suggest
Solutions and even predict follow-up
questions AGI can offer a perception
system that anticipates potential issues
uses tone analysis to to better
understand the customer's mood and
possesses a keen memory that can recall
the most specific minutia for that
client also its emotional intelligence
would allow it to adapt communication to
be empathetic and supportive which I
think we can all agree is a far cry from
today's automated
systems now second we need to think
about how this would affect coding
intelligence now AGI would grasp the
logic and purpose of existing code bases
suggesting improvements and generating
new code based on human specifications
so consider building a new e-commerce
feature well the programmer tells the
AGI I need to function I need a function
that will calculate shipping costs and
it needs to be based on location and
weight and Method now today's Frontier
AI models could already take a pretty
good stab or a request like that but an
AGI system would have a deep
understanding of architecture
dependencies and change history leading
to better tailored code ready for the
programmer to review optimize and
integrate all right next up current
self-driving cars and autonomous systems
rely heavily on pre-programmed maps and
sensors but that is beginning to change
so how will AGI affect autonomous
vehicles and autonomous
Transportation well AGI wouldn't just
perceive its surroundings it would
understand them it might analyze
realtime data from cameras liar and
other sensors to identify objects assess
risks and anticipate environmental
changes like sudden weather events or
unexpected obstacles and to do so in
ways that are similar to the way that we
do them so to recognize when another
driver is waving us through at a
four-way stop or to better understand
the intentions of other Road users AGI
might also assist in navigation choosing
the most effective and safest route in
real time now number four that one is
all about healthc care and how AGI could
affect that now the vast amount of
medical data generated today remains
largely untapped AGI might analyze
medical images patient records and
genetic data to identify subtle patterns
that might Escape human attention AGI
might also analyze a patient's genetic
makeup and medical history to tailor
treatment plans and it's that
personalized approach that might lead to
more effective therapies with fewer side
effects now before I get to the other
four use cases here let's pause for a
moment to consider the ways that today's
current AI systems need to improve in
order to reach AGI and the first thing
we're going to need or certainly one of
the things we're going to need is better
visual perception now computer vision
has overcome some significant hurdles in
facial recognition and object detection
but it still Falls far short of human
capabilities in context and object
identification multimodal AI models
they're making a lot of progress here
but there's still a ways to go and
similarly we'll need improvements in
audio as well so audio perception also
need to improve AI systems are rapidly
improving in speech recognition but they
still struggle with things like Regional
accents or sarcasm or identifying
emotional
tones today's AI systems excel at
something already which is problem
solving but they only do that to a
certain
extent it's primarily for well-defined
problems but an AG would need to solve
problems the way a human would with
reasoning and with critical thinking the
AGI would need to handle uncertainty and
make decisions with incomplete
information and look human intelligence
is deeply intertwined with our emotional
and our social abilities so an AGI would
need those
two it's really what makes us us so an
AI would need to recognize and
understand emotions including
interpreting facial expressions body
language and tone of voice but when we
get all that what will it mean for our
remaining use cases well look I work in
education so this one is quite close to
my heart imagine an AGI tutor who
doesn't present information but
personalizes The Learning Journey AGI
might analyze the students performance
learning style and knowledge gaps to
create a customized learning path it
wouldn't treat all students the same AGI
might adjust the pace and the difficulty
of the material in real time
based on the student's understanding so
struggling with a concept AGI provides
other explanations and examples or if
you're mastering a topic it can
introduce more challenging material all
of which might not be great for my
future job security but can AGI right
backwards on a lightboard can it all

manufacturing are you watching AGI look
at that okay now AGI might revolutionize
manufacturing by optimizing every step
of the process by analyzing vast amounts
of data from sensors on the production
line it might recommend adjustments to
machine settings and optimize production
schedules in real time for maximum
efficiency analyzing historical data and

equipment failures before they happen a
slight vibration in a critical machine
would be immediately recognized it would
be analyzed and it would be addressed
all right two more let's consider how
this could affect financial services and
the question we all want to know is
could AGI be the ultimate stock picker
well it could analyze vast data sets
encompassing financial news social media
sentiment and even satellite imagery to
identify complex market trends and
potential disruptions that might go
unnoticed by human analysts AGI might
develop its own complex Trading
algorithms that factor in this data to
create more accurate Financial models
and finally there is R and D or research
and development which is possibly the
most impactful use case of all using all
that it has learned AGI might be able to
formulate new hypotheses and design
experiments at an unprecedented scale
accelerating scientific breakthroughs
across all sorts of fields this would
allow scientists to test hypotheses more
efficiently and explore previously
unimaginable
Frontiers look AGI might be science
fiction for now but we've made some
massive advancements in AI in the past
